When I Close My Eyes
Singer-songwriter Chelsea Cutler was preparing to release her sophomore album, When I Close My Eyes, and wanted to give fans an intimate look into her creative process. We envisioned a sit-down interview that captured the emotions, inspirations, and experiences that shaped the album
Role: Video Production, Interview, Art Direction, Edits Supervisor
Objective
I was tasked with producing a video interview to support the album launch. Given the deeply personal nature of the project and the lingering constraints of the pandemic, we opted for a minimal, intimate shoot in her home studio—ensuring authenticity while keeping production streamlined
Shoot Production
With just a two-person crew (myself and a camera operator), I facilitated an organic conversation, allowing Chelsea to share her journey in a relaxed, genuine way. I prepared thoughtful questions to guide the discussion while letting the conversation unfold naturally. We also captured a variety of b-roll moments—Chelsea playing a new single, signing merch, and showcasing her memorabilia collection—to add depth and visual interest
Post Production
In post-production, the content evolved into a three-part video series. Each segment was strategically structured to tell a compelling standalone story while maintaining a cohesive narrative across the series. Working closely with her team, we incorporated album design elements into the visuals, ensuring the series aligned seamlessly with her overall branding
